*KEKAYAAN MEREKA*

16 September 2016

Lalu Romo Josep bertanya :
"Mengapa orang yang lebih setia mendengarkan Sabda Yesus, mengikuti dan melayani-Nya adalah kebanyakan kaum wanita?"

Seorang Ibu menjawab :
"Karena para pria sedang mencari uang Romo. Jadi tidak bisa datang".

Lalu seorang Bapak menjawab :
"Para pria menganggap bahwa urusan doa dan Tuhan itu adalah urusan perempuan."

Lalu Romo Josep berkata :
"Saya melayani dan bahkan memberikan diri untuk melayani Tuhan karena mengalami Tuhan di dalam hidup saya. Oleh karena itu kepada para ibu-ibu, berdoalah setiap hari bagi suami-suami anda agar mereka mengalami perjumpaan dengan Tuhan, sehingga ia akan meninggalkan semuanya untuk mengikuti Yesus."

Lalu seorang Bapak yang duduk di belakang berkata :
"Benar sekali Romo Josep. Saya pun melakukannya."

Oratio
Ya Tuhanku dan Allahku. Amin.

Misssio
_Marilah kita melakukan karya kerahiman dengan melayani Tuhan dengan harta kita._

*Have a Blessed Friday.*

Sts Cornelius and Cyprian.
Friday 16th September.
Lk 8:1-3.

Jesus went on through cities and villages, preaching and bringing the good news of the kingdom of God. And the twelve were with him, and also some women who had been healed of evil spirits and infirmities: Mary, called Magdalene, from whom seven demons had gone out, and Joanna, the wife of Chuza, Herod's steward, and Susanna, and many others, who provided for them out of their means.

How much You, Lord, must have loved these women! They were always serving You, Jesus, in all You needed; making sure that You didn't lack anything. They spent their time and money on You. In actual fact, being God, You could have gone without any help; couldn't You? You are God. But You wanted to eat and to drink what they provided and to sleep in the houses to which You were invited. For some reason, Jesus, You like to be given things instead of taking them. And these women [notice: all of them women!] were generous enough not just to give You what You needed but to follow You to make sure that You always had what was needed; You lived on earth as if obliged to depend upon generous people.

You are now in the Tabernacle and that also obliges You to depend on us. Saints have always been generous with everything that related to You. Even when they were poor, they didn't spare anything to give You the best.

St John Vianney is a good example of this. He was very poor. He always used to eat just three or four boiled potatoes a day. He slept on the floor and had only one cassock... He was very austere with himself. But when it came to spending money on You, Lord, in the Blessed Sacrament, he didn't calculate. He was famous in the markets of Lyon for always purchasing the best materials for his church. When they offered him different materials he would say: "This is not good enough for God, I need the best!"

Also St Francis of Assisi, known for his poverty, wanted to send brothers throughout the world with precious chalices and ciboria for the Eucharist.

At times, we may not be able to provide money, but we can always serve Jesus in many other ways with devotion and affection, like these women of the Gospel.

Mary, Mother of the Eucharist, make me generous with your Son in the Tabernacle.
May He never be lacking anything I can provide.

Commentary of the day :

"Accompanying him were the Twelve and some women"

Jesus, as we know, certainly chose from among his disciples 12 men as Fathers of the new Israel and appointed them "to be with him, and to be sent out to preach" (Mk 3, 14-15).

This fact is obvious; but, in addition to the Twelve, pillars of the Church and fathers of the new People of God, many women were also chosen to number among the disciples. I can only mention very briefly those who followed Jesus himself, beginning with the Prophetess Anna (cf. Lk 2, 36-38), to the Samaritan woman (cf. Jn 4, 1-39), the Syro-Phoenician woman (cf. Mk 7, 24-30), the woman with the haemorrhage (cf. Mt 9, 20-22) and the sinful woman whose sins were forgiven (cf. Lk 7, 36-50).

I will not even refer to the protagonists of some of his effective parables, for example, the housewife who made bread (cf. Mt 13, 33), the woman who lost the drachma (cf. Lk 15, 8-10), the widow who pestered the judge (cf. Lk 18, 1-8).

More important for our topic are the women who played an active role in the context of Jesus' mission.

In the first place, we think spontaneously of the Virgin Mary, who with her faith and maternal labours collaborated in a unique way in our Redemption to the point that Elizabeth proclaimed her "Blessed... among women" (Lk 1, 42), adding: "Blessed is she who believed..." (Lk 1, 45). Having become a disciple of her Son, Mary manifested total trust in him at Cana (cf. Jn 2, 5), and followed him to the foot of the Cross where she received from him a maternal mission for all his disciples of all times, represented by John (cf. Jn 19, 25-27).

Then there are various women with roles of responsibility who gravitated in their different capacities around the figure of Jesus. The women who followed Jesus to assist him with their own means, some of whose names Luke has passed down to us, are an eloquent example: Mary of Magdala, Joanna, Susanna and "many others" (cf. Lk 8, 2-3). The Gospels then tell us that the women, unlike the Twelve, did not abandon Jesus in the hour of his Passion (cf. Mt 27, 56, 61; Mk 15, 40). Among them, Mary Magdalene stands out in particular. Not only was she present at the Passion, but she was also the first witness and herald of the Risen One (cf. Jn 20, 1.11-18). It was precisely to Mary Magdalene that St Thomas Aquinas reserved the special title, "Apostle of the Apostles", dedicating to her this beautiful comment: "Just as a woman had announced the words of death to the first man, so also a woman was the first to announce to the Apostles the words of life".

Tips of the day:
day 1467.

"Engkau memberitahukan kepadaku jalan kehidupan;
  di hadapan-Mu ada sukacita berlimpah-limpah,
di tangan kanan-Mu ada nikmat senantiasa."
(Mazmur 16:11).

Selamat pagi sahabat,
  have a blessed Friday!
