Thomas dan Rudy pergi mengikuti retreat OMK selama tiga hari dua malam. Mereka mengikutinya dengan seksama dan dalam suasana silensium.

Ketika menjelang retreat berakhir, masing-masing diminta memberikan kesaksian apa yang mereka dapatkan.

Lalu Thomas maju ke depan dan berkata:"Saya sudah diberikan karunia bermain musik dan Tuhan ingin saya melayani-Nya dengan bermain musik di kegiatan gereja dan lingkungan".

Lalu Rudy maju ke depan dan berkata:
"Saya merasa damai setiap kali mengikuti retreat, saya merasa ingin melayani Tuhan dengan hidup saya. Saya memutuskan untuk melanjutkan ke seminari".

Melihat kesaksian mereka berdua, ketua panitia retreat berkata:
"Dalam keheninganlah kita mampu mendengar suara dan panggilan Tuhan".

Yesus memanggil kedua belas murid-Nya dan memberi kuasa kepada mereka untuk mengusir roh-roh jahat dan untuk melenyapkan segala penyakit dan segala kelemahan

Dalam keheningan kita mampu mendengar suara Tuhan memanggil kita.

Oratio
Ya Tuhan, mampukan kami mendengar suara-Mu. Amin.

Missio
_Marilah kita melakukan karya kerahiman dengan memberikan waktu hening untuk mendengarkan panggilan Tuhan kepada kita._

Banyak anak kecil dimanja oleh orang tua sehingga ketika mulai dewasa, mereka mengalami kesulitan dalam melakukan beberapa pekerjaan yang sederhana sekalipun.
Hal yang sama dalam usaha kita menjadi sempurna dalam kerohanian. Berusaha dan berlatih berdoa, sabar dalam kondisi yang tidak menyenangkan, bersyukur dalam segala hal. Perlu waktu dan latihan berulang kali. Tidak mungkin hanya dengan satu atau dua kali peristiwa kita menjadi sempurna. Kita memang tidak akan mampu sepenuhnya sama seperti Bapa, tetapi dengan rahmat-Nya kita akan diubahkan menjadi semakin serupaa dengan-Nya.
Rahmat-Nya memampukan kita berusaha dan berlatih, buah-buahnya kita kembalikan lagi kepada Tuhan dengan syukur.

Apakah kita sudah sungguh-sungguh berusaha dan berlatih tiap hari?

"Karena itu haruslah kamu sempurna, sama seperti Bapamu yang di sorga adalah sempurna."
(Matius 5:48).

Wednesday 6th July.
St Maria Goretti, Virgin and Martyr.
Matthew 10:1-7.

The names of the twelve apostles are these: 
first, Simon, who is called Peter,
and Andrew his brother;
James the  son of Zebedee, and John his brother;
Philip and Bartholomew;
Thomas and Matthew the tax collector;
James the son of Alphaeus, and Thaddaeus;
Simon the Cananaean, and Judas Iscariot, who betrayed him.

St Matthew gives us the list of the twelve Apostles (including himself).

If you give a list of people in your class, for instance, you don't have to say 'first', because it's not a classiffication. You write them in random order or just in alphabetical order.

St Matthew starts the list saying: "First, Simon, who is called Peter".

St Mark (3:13-19) and St Luke (6:12-16) also give us the list of the Apostles.

In actual fact, St Luke does it twice, because in the Acts of the Apostles (1:13- 14) he mentions them again.

In all these lists the Apostles' names are mentioned in a different order, except for Peter: in the four lists he is always mentioned first.

Another interesting point is that if you say: 'this is the list: First, Peter', then you expect to continue the text with the word... 'second...' But in St Matthew's list there is no 'second'. There is only one 'First' and then eleven more. Since the Apostles at times had been discussing who was the  first among them, Jesus solved the riddle before He ascended into Heaven: Peter was.

First things  first: 'First, Simon, who is called Peter'.
St Peter gave unity to the twelve.
We  find him solving the problems that arose after Jesus' Ascension.

Today our Peter is called Francis and he needs our prayers.

Mons. Chichester, bishop of Salisbury (Zimbabwe, Africa) once surprised Pope Pius XII with this question:
'Your Holiness, do you sleep well at night?'

The Pope, amazed, replied: 'Yes, I do ... but why do you ask me that?'.

'When I was little', The African bishop replied, 'a lady used to take care of us. Every night, when she got us into bed she prayed with us one Hail Mary "for the Pope of Rome, so that he can sleep peacefully despite his many concerns."
I have always been praying it, and, to be honest, I was curious to know if it works'.
It certainly does!

Holy Mary,
Queen of the Apostles,
Mother of the Church,
pray for Pope Francis!
